The Digitaize system features two built-in microphones for maximum flexibility. Let’s discover them and see how you can use them in different settings:

  1. MEMS Omnidirectional microphone

Both the Digitaize Module and the Smart Violin feature an omnidirectional digital MEMS microphone. The microphone sits on the back side of the Module or on the back side of the fingerboard, in the case of the Smart Violin.

The MEMS Microphone on the Digitaize Smart Violin sits on the back side of the fingerboard, facing the instrument body.

On the String Module, the MEMS microphone also sits on the back side and faces the instrument body. This position ensures a very direct sound, a strong volume and reduces feedback possibilities to the minimum.

Additionally to the built-in MEMS microphone, the Digitaize Module for string now features a built-in pick-up microphone:

The piezo microphone allows for a clean signal in loud environments. It is used mainly by the MIDI algorithm to shape the envelope of the MIDI translation. It can also be used for direct amplification, in case you are working with sound effects and live processing.

In Digitaize Connect it is possible to switch between the two built-in microphones for the amplification:

The audio signal can be routed into any DAW using our VST3/AU Plugin, Digitaize Sound. Just load the plug-in into a new audio track in any DAW and the sound selected in Digitaize Connect will appear.

The VST3/AU Digitaize Audio Plug-In is included with the Digitaize Connect Software Bundle.
