Software First Start

Download Digitaize

First you need to download and install Digitaize onto your computer. To download the installer please go to this page. Note that you must be logged in on the Digitaize website in order to download Digitaize installer.

Start App and Module

  • Plug The Digitaize USB-Receiver to your computer.
  • On the Wireless Module: shortly press the button that is exposed on the front of the housing, next to the usb-c charging port. A LED lights up.
  • Start Digitaize Connect App (you’ll find it under Applications on Mac and in Program Files on Windows)
  • Note: Digitaize Connect is a system-tray app, when the app runs you’ll see a small black-white logo in your system tray (top right menu bar on Mac, bottom right on Windows)

Product setup

After a connection with your instrument is established, a pop-up window will appear automatically.

  1. Choose a unique name for your instrument (Digitaize will create its midi ports exactly under this name)
  2. Choose your instrument (Note: Smart violin and DIY violin are different products!)
  3. Click on Get Started

Firmware Update

After you registered your instrument you might be prompted to update the firmware on your device.

Do not ignore this step, as only having the most recent firmware version guarantees the best experience with the Digitaize system.

Calibration

The calibration is needed to map the sensor fingerboard to your specific instrument. It is done by correlating the data acquired from the sensor to the resulting pitch. It is a sort of tuning of the digital system.

MIDI Configuration

In the Setting Section of the app you can choose the midi routing of the individual strings, set up the sensitivity of the capturing system as well as choose between different playing profiles. From now on your instrument is available as a Virtual Midi Port under the name given in the Setup Stage and can be accessed from any DAW.

Enjoy playing with Digitaize!
